Persistent Parable

“I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.” Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus spoke about a prayer parable which speaks about a peculiar character of prayer. Most people give up praying easily if there isn’t an immediate response or breakthroughs.

This is not talking about a prayer with personal contentious gain as in James 4:3 but of a real genuine need. First and foremost, Christ spoke about a friend and we know this reveals an interesting aspect of what God’s nature is like which is unbelievably close. But on the other hand, this friend doesn’t reply when we want it many of times. And yet he was told to be persistent and not give up easily.

This made me remember how me and my mum prayed for more than a decade for my father’s salvation, and we were glad God shows up at the best time. God makes all things beautiful in His time. Ecclesiastes 3:11. Persistency is key to touch God’s heart, and He knows great faith is built in the process.

To God be the glory!
