A New Season

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts. To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. A haughty look, a proud heart, And the plowing of the wicked are sin. The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.” Proverbs‬ ‭21:1-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Whenever something new arises, many rush to it with hasty feet and anxious hearts. But the kingdom of God is the opposite, rather than rushing like everyone else, the man and woman of God is still and slows down to seek and hear God’s wisdom and counsel. Nehemiah was a classic example of a righteous man of God who is self-sacrificial with great patience, wisdom, strategy, planning and timing. His exploits and exemplary performance in rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem within 52 days, was divine and unparalleled. Nehemiah 6:15. He was just a cup bearer of the King and a Prayer Warrior. Nehemiah 1:5-11.

To navigate a new season, we need to unlearn, unload, and unwind before the Lord or else the new wine is going to tear the old wineskin. Matthew 9:17. Nehemiah has to repent of his, his people, and his ancestors' sins before he found the favour of God. Nehemiah 1:6. He too asked the Lord to give him success and grant him favour in the presence of the King. V11. Humility is the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

To God be the glory!

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.” Isaiah‬ ‭43:18-19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
