Today's Inspiration: For bodily exercise profits little bit godliness is profitable for all things, having the promise of life that now is and of that which is to come. 1 Timothy 4:8. Godliness has two distinct but complimentary traits - God-centeredness (devotion to God) and Godlikeness(Christian virtues).
Paul wanted to know Christ and be like Him and to press forwardly passionately and with intensity towards the goal. Philippians 3:10-14. To be like Him, we need to take earnest and sincere efforts to be like Him. This depends on our genuineness of devotion to Him.
Godlikeness does not only comprise the nine fruits of the spirit but we also have to add to them Holiness by sanctification, transformation to humility, compassion, forbearing, contentment and thankfulness. These traits are important to attain Godlikeness. A truly godly person possess inner resources which furnish riches far beyond what the Earth can give like wisdom for a timely word to touch the lives that ignite the heart of others to invest in the kingdom of God. A godly person pleases God that reveals the source of power to produce health and healing. Deuteronomy 8:18. A godly person always has spiritual awakening of God's heart.
Assess if you are a godly person. One of the most distinguishing traits of a godly person has his heart focused on God rather than possession of position and power. God be praised.
Prayer: O Lord God Your grace is sufficient for us. Make me the godly person You want me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
