Today’s Inspiration: “John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”Luke 3:16 NIV In Jesus’s time, religious practices and rituals were rampant and that does not change or transform lives in the Kingdom of God. Self repentance and penitence wasn’t enough even in the eyes of John the Baptist, of whom Jesus said no one was as righteous as him.

John spoke of a baptism which was done not by man but by Christ Jesus himself who was born of the Holy Spirit and not of man. And the water which cleanses our body does not sanctify our conscience in the Spirit. It is by a spiritual regeneration of fire that we truly encounter God from the inside out in spiritual renewal, not of works but of workings of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, there is no power over sin, satan and the soulish living of the flesh. And there will not be inner illumination and convictions for spiritual transformation in walking with God in the Spirit. Only the Holy Spirit can bear the fruit of the Spirit and manifest a born again life in God’s kingdom.

Prayer: O Lord my God, it is not by might, nor by human power but by the Spirit of God whom Christ baptize us. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and lead me in your everlasting ways. Lead me to not walk and live in gratifying the desires of my flesh but be transformed in the renewing of my mind by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our spirit is the lamp of God who burns with the refiner’s fire, who makes us as pure gold in the likeness of Christ, removing all inner dross, impurities and dirt, in Jesus Name, Amen.
