Today's Inspiration: At the height of great panic it is difficult to learn life's deeper lessons and who God truly is. All we have to do is to learn to be still to understand who God is. Psalm 46:10. Jesus' parables normally carry profound truths that caused His disciples to think and reflect. If these truths were allowed to get impregnated into our hearts and take root, these truths would produce a change of mind and heart as well as life.
Like Jesus we need to understand who our disciples are. They are slow to learn and slow to understand. The disciples had sight but no insight. They heard voices without detecting the origin of that voice. They look at surface of things and do not reflect deeply enough to raise its spiritual significance. This results in hardening of hearts.
It requires great patience for Jesus to explain to the disciples the secret of true leadership and greatness in His kingdom. Mark 9:35-37. True greatness is measured by humility, servant hood and sacrificed service. Mark10:42-45. Many Christians do not stay long enough to seek the Lord for profound Revelation. We read in the bible how Jesus' disciples fall asleep many times at critical points in Jesus' life and miss out important lessons. This is applicable even in today's context. These same disciples Peter, James and John were caught sleeping whilst Jesus was praying at the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus then have the instructions that we should watch and pray in all circumstances. Often we are distracted by our own prejudices and fear and we have a hardened heart that hinders us from drawing deep insights in His teaching. If only we will stop to ponder then we will understand what He is conveying that will convict our hearts to respond to a message of transformation.
Prayer: Lord show me profound truths from your teaching in the bible that I be joyful at all times. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
