Today’s Inspiration: “Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished. In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.” Proverbs 16:5-6 NKJV. In God’s eyes, big doesn’t mean strong and small doesn’t mean weak, just like Goliath and David. We can get proud easily when things go well and successful for work, ministry and home. It’s a frightening thought that we no longer need God and our flesh is fully self sufficient, we no longer have the fear of the Lord.
That’s what happened to Joseph when he felt favour above all his brothers and even parents because of his divine dreams. But later on was thrown into the pit because it drew jealousy among the brothers by gloating on their mistakes. Spiritual Pride is demonic and is the gentle slippery slope to a downfall of hellish consequences. It comes when we lift ourselves up to put others down. Proverbs 16:18 Yet the Lord is gracious and merciful if we choose to reflect and repent of our pride, anger and self righteousness. Grace is not fully encountered unless we realise how vulnerable we are without God in our life journey.
Prayer: O Lord my God, let us hate pride, and depart from our own worldly and fleshly ways. Keep us safe with the fear of the Lord. Without you, we can do nothing but with you, all things are possible. Your Holy Spirit is able to help us and guide us to become more like you. May your Holy Word keep us humble and teachable to learn, to love, to live and lay ourselves before the Cross, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
