14 December 2022 Word by Snr Pastor, Pastor Darien Choo

Today’s Inspiration: “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬.‬ No one born to this earth would naturally want to be be bad but all desire to be good. But the world’s definition of good and the Bible’s is different. For the world, good is determined by what a person does but in the kingdom of God, it is determined by what Christ did. One is relying on self and the latter is dependent on Christ. One is trying to justify by works and the latter is justified by faith. Galatians 2:16. Jesus taught,” Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭17.‬ ‭Even Jesus did not claim to be good despite having the fullness of God and Holy Spirit. He exalts His Father God in heaven.

We all sinned and fall short the glory of God but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23. A good name reflects a Christlike character in the kingdom of God. Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches, honour and life. Proverbs 22:4. A good name comes from humility, obedient and teachability like Christ. Only bearing fruit of the Spirit can build a godly character and manifest the glory of God. And to bear good fruit, we need the Holy Spirit to guide and mould us daily and not just in church, more so at home and workplace. Jesus taught,” If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” John‬ ‭14‬:‭15‬-‭18.‬ ‭Glory to God!

Prayer: O Lord my God, for you are good and your unfailing love and sweet mercies endures forever. Guide me to delight in your commandments like David did. Lead me deeper into your presence and immerse me in your word of living waters. Forgive my sins, cleanse me, fill me with your Holy Spirit and lead me to walk with you. May I be of your workmanship and vessel to overflow with the goodness of God for others like you did, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
