13 July 2022 Word by Snr Pastor, Ps Darien Choo

Today’s Inspiration: “Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire. Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.” Proverbs‬ ‭29:17-18‬ ‭NIV.‬‬ Without discipline we will not achieve success in life and without corrections we will not grow spiritually and mature in the image of Christ. No farmers can reap a harvest without plowing for seasons, no athlete can win a medal without spending arduous time on training, and no army is fearless without sacrifice of one’s will and life.

No parents like to discipline their child because it hurts their heart but take heed of God’s Word that discipline is not abuse, oppression or control, rather it is about correction, love and encouragement. So if we obey God’s Word to discipline, we shall have godly children through godly corrections. Proverbs 22:6. Dare to discipline because without discipline there is no relationship. The Scriptures taught,” And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Hebrews‬ ‭12:5-6‬. ‭Without a Prayer life, there is no discipline and chastisement of the Spirit. But with discipline, we can feel the love of God and a parent. “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews‬ ‭12:11‬ Praise God!

Prayer: O Lord my God, thank you for your Word and discipline. Daily help me to search my heart and know my thoughts that I shall discipline in prayer, to deny my flesh and seek thy will. If there is any sinful ways or unclean thoughts, I take captivity of them in Christ to the cross and turn from my own wayward ways into your path of righteousness. Let my heart always be humble, obedient and teachable at all times for your discipline, correction and moulding, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
