12 January 2021 Word by Honorary Pastor Rev Alicia Teo

Today's Inspiration: Let us live to what we have already attained. Philippians 3:16. Jehoaida is the man whom Joash owes his crown yet after Jehoaida's death, Joash did not remember the kindness Zechariah's father Jehoaida had shown him but killed his son who said as he lay dying 'May the Lord see this and called you to account.’ 2 Chronicles 24:22. The words came to fulfillment. Joash's officials conspired against him for murdering the son of Jehoaida the priest and they killed him in his bed. V25.

Our beginning maybe good but what is more important is the finishing line. A turning from grace is a terrible thing. Having good advisers is ideal but when they are replaced by those who are idolators we are bound for destruction. As soon as he was released from Jehoaida's watchful eye, he followed what he secretly lusted for. He chose to murder the son of the man who saved his life on the very spot where he himself was anointed in v21 and paid for it with his own life in v25.

Lessons here learnt is God gives a second chance through Zechariah but Joash failed to take heed and trifled with His grace. Our beginning to follow God does not guarantee our finishing the journey. We have a choice. We likely choose what we desire but it may not be God's desire so we are brought to destruction.

We have to take heed of advice we have been given and at the same time be discerning what God wills us to do. Have an undivided heart to trust God for His ways surpasses men's ways. We must be consistent in our walk with God so that we will still be found to be holy and unblemished even up to end of time. God be praised.

Prayer: Guide me to the paths that are higher than my ways. I pray for a consistent walk with You. Guard my heart and my thoughts so that I will be found unblemished even to my last day on earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
