11 Sept 2020 Word by Honorary Pastor Rev Alicia Teo

Today's Inspiration: Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10. Persecution normally comes at a time when all seems well and there is nothing we desire that cannot be met. Yet it comes like a flood with terror on every side. We are clueless as to the next step to take yet Jesus taught His disciples to rejoice in persecution for great is our reward in heaven in v12.

Persecution is actually a blessing in disguise designed to bring out the best of Christian character. In persecution our spiritual infirmities showed we cannot withstand it even within an hour without Christ's upholding us. We can do nothing without Him. John 15:5. It helps us to resolve to live righteously.

Apostle Paul in Romans 5:3-4 that we glory in tribulations that produces perseverance and perseverance character. It's inevitable in life not to face persecution because we have a deadly enemy in Satan who is ever watching any false move we take to pounce at us. Much as try to avoid it, we can't but to go through it with the Lord's help. In fact, persecution is a disguised blessing designed to complete our preparation in God's kingdom. Persecution is good for our soul.

Every time you want to make a fresh start there is a prowler ready to pounce at you. But do not fear as you pursue to overcome the adversities facing you, He is your light and will lead you the way out as you come humbly to Him. Do not be perturbed. Let His light shine through you by your positive response towards men despite persecution that you may glorify your Father in heaven. V16. Do not take offenses. V12. God be praised.

Prayer: Heavenly Father help me to glory in tribulations that I may rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Let my hope not be disappointed because the love of God had poured into our heart by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
