6 April 2023 Word by Senior Pastor, Pastor Darien Choo

Today’s Inspiration: “There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” Proverbs‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬-‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬ .Most of us don’t realise that pride is always the first sin, just like satan whose name was Lucifer and the most beautiful and wonderful cherub in heaven could become a fallen angel because of pride, jealousy and rebellion against God.

When a person says he or she doesn’t have pride, is pride itself. We all have it, and realising it earlier brings wisdom, knowledge and understanding in the fear of the Lord. Proverbs 9:10. Pride always comes before a fall. Proverbs 16:18. On the other hand, Humility brings riches, honour and life with good relationships. Proverbs 22:4. Broken homes, marriages, health or relationships can only be restored through the atonement of our sins, with the blood of Jesus and repentance of our hearts from the pride of life. We are all sinners saved by the Lord’s grace at the Cross of Calvary so that we may resurrect in His image, bearing the fruit of the Spirit and receiving the eternal tree of life. Love covers multitudes of sins. 1 Peter 4:8.

Prayer: O Lord my God, I thank you for reminding me I can prideful at times and not take heed of your Word and Holy Spirit. I confess the pride of life and the lust of my eyes and flesh. Let my heart not be hardened with wounds of pride by jealousy, bitterness or hatred of the past but be renewed with a heart of humility, gentleness and obedient to your Word, your Holy Spirit, and your love which never fails, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
