27 October 2020 Word by Honorary Pastor Rev Alicia Teo

Today's Inspiration: The worst famine that can ever come to us is the famine of hearing the words of the Lord prophesied by Amos in Amos 8:11. It is not a famine of words for they are in abundance in the Bible which we can refer but the famine of hearing the truth that set us free.

The famine of hearing also refers to lack of hearing further instructions from the Lord on the root of the problems and the right way to resolve issues. We need God to guide us. Isaiah 28:26. You will be oblivious to what is happening and you will not be able to hear the voice of the prophets nor be able to see visions of the seers. Isaiah 29:9-10.

How then can we respond to the agony of defeat? We respond by learning to press ahead whatever the circumstances and persevere despite failure, disappointment and pain. Had Apostle Paul not press on despite persecution, we would not have the two thirds of the New Testament written by him for our learning. It's hearing God's fresh manna each day that helps us to overcome every trial in life. Jesus resists the devil by saying that man shall not live by bread alone but by the hearing of the words spoken from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4. This means we cannot afford to have famine of hearing from Him in our life.

It's His instructions that empowers victory over darkness in our life. We should not allow defeat to destroy us but to allow defeat to drive us to our goal by His grace. Philippians 3:13. It's His grace that empowers the supernatural manifestation in our life. We need to be man and woman of power for the Lord to manifest. Our confidence is the Lord's freeing us from the snares of the enemy. Proverbs 3:26. God be praised.

Prayer: Lord prepare me to be a holy sanctuary unto You that will manifest Your power to heal the broken=hearted and binding up their wounds so that we will always experience the thrill of Your victory in our life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
