23 December 2023 Word by Senior Pastor, Pastor Darien Choo

Today‘s Inspiration: ”My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.“ Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬. Today we observed due to much busyness and pursuits of many things in the world today, parents have guilt when they don’t have time with their children and thus dare not discipline their children, especially it’s a single child family. I have physically seen a young boy beating the father with no response in a clinic. Why would children grow up bullying the parents?

In the inner healing ministry, these are signs of passive parenting and oppressive spouses. If a husband oppresses his wife, the child will grow up seeing it as a norm to put down the mother. This could also be vice versa to the father. Without a strong marriage, strong parenting will be lacking without love, unity and agreement in discipline. To build strong families, godly parents must fear God more than their children. Discipline doesn’t mean we don’t love our children. On the contrary, without discipline there is no love or concern for their future. Godly wisdom emerges through love, discipline and discipleship at home.

Prayer: O Lord my God, thank you for your discipline and corrections through your Word. For you love us so much to discipline us that our path is made straight and our convictions are sharpened. Give us wisdom, knowledge and understanding to parent the next generation intentionally according to your Word. For you are the way, the truth, and the life, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
