Today’s Inspiration: “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.” 2 Peter 1:5-7 NIV. Our relationship of self with others, reflects our relationship with God. Walking with Christ isn’t just about the working of healing, miracles, signs and wonders but the journey of transforming one’s heart which is the true miracle and marvel of God.
Apostle Peter who used to be impetuous, impatient and easily angered, became an apostle of Christ who is filled with love, mutual affection and self control. He rejected Jesus three times and was reinstated three times by the love of Christ in John 21. Speaking about killing pride, such was the wonderful inner healing of the Holy Spirit who reveals Christ purposes to us daily. Religion is having God outside of us but Relationship is having God inside of us. God is love and He is greater than our hearts. 1 John 3:20. The World is broken and corrupt because they do not know God and His love. Most of our negative reactions, cyclical problems and behaviours originate from lacking of love in our primitive lives. If Peter needs love to be healed and changed, so do we as disciples of Christ. Seek to always love first and not judge, always be quick to listen and not speak because only the love of God can bring self control. Praise God!
Prayer: O Lord my God, let thy Holy Spirit add to my faith with new measure to become more like you from the inside out. Let the words of my mouth and meditation of my heart be on your Holy Word. Let there be self control, mutual affection and love in me that I will be productive and effective in sharing the gospel, touching lives and building the Kingdom of God, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
