11 January 2022 Word by Snr Pastor, Ps Darien Choo

Today’s Inspiration: “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalms 16:11. Spiritual disciplines are very important for a Christian life. Most people are comfortable with what they have, like and want to do, rather than what God wants them to give, sacrifice and do.

Are we sleeping into our own world or are we awaken for Kingdom of God? “Allow no sleep to your eyes, no slumber to your eyelids. Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.” Proverbs 6:4-5 NIV

Without spiritual discipline we perish, and will experience dryness, stagnation, and complacency. Spiritual lukewarmness is backsliding. It exposes us to sin, the lust of the flesh, eyes, and pride of life. During the initial circuit breaker in 2020, I personally felt a sense of being too comfortable with zoom and my flesh told me it was the right “feelings”. The whole world is doing this and is the new Church. Feelings are dangerous without the Word of God. There was a tugging in my Spirit and I knew this wasn’t God’s plan. His heart is for the true worshippers to gather and fellowship in His presence. Then I found myself fighting back my flesh to come back on-site ministry and experienced spiritual joy of abiding to God’s Word. Let’s not miss the ordinance of God just because of convenience. Be disciplined in 2022 for the encounters of God like Jacob, who wrestled with God and man, and prevailed!

Prayer: O Lord My God, your Word, your Worship, and your Fellowship will never change. Forgive me for my complacency, conceitedness, and slumber. Crucify my flesh at the Cross, and revive a new hunger and thirst for your righteousness. Let 2022 be filled with your engagements and encounters in Jesus' Name, Amen.
