1 December 2020 Word by Honorary Pastor Rev Alicia Teo

Today's Inspiration: It is in God's Sovereignty to break down what He has built and pluck up what He has planted. He brings adversity to all flesh but to His people, He has a reward for their life in all places wherever they go. Jeremiah 45:5. What a privilege for those who loved and served Him. The teaching of the Lord is perfect, renewing our lives, the decrees of the Lord are enduring, making the simple wise, the precepts of the Lord are just, rejoicing our hearts, the instruction of the Lord enlightens our eyes. Psalm 19:8-9.

Jesus' teaching evolve around the Torah to clarify what it meant that cannot be explicitly taught by the religious teachers. Hence the whole Bible evolved around the Torah which is derived from the root word yarah meaning to teach, instruct or give direction. The Jewish Tanakh interpretes it as teaching more than law. Like Psalm 1:2 Jewish Tanakh reads as the teaching of the Lord is in his delight and he studies the teaching day and night. The English translation is the law of the Lord and instead of studying it quotes to meditate day and night so that whatever we do according to the Torah prospers. Hence the first five books of Bible is called the Torah which contains the story of creation, it's fall, God's choice of the family of Abraham, Deliverance of Israel from slavery, their formation as a nation and His Revelation as their God. In short, the Torah teaches us the Lord who cares. Jesus taught His disciples and the crowds the way to Abundant life. Hence the Torah is teaching us that God is a loving Father through Jesus' example the way of life. This is why John wrote that Jesus is the way of life and the truth of life. John 14:6. Jesus is the word. John 1:1,14. The word teaches us how to live life abundantly. The law comprises only a small part of the Torah. So we can conclude that the Torah is an instruction of His ways of how we should live through the Divine attributes of Jesus. God be praised.

Prayer: Thank You for teaching us Your way of life to us. May we meditate or study them deeply that our life be abundant through His blessings from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. Deuteronomy 11:12. This truth is yes and amen. 2 Corinthians 1:20. God be praised. In Jesus name Amen.
