“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end!
Firstly, I would like to thank God for His mercy and all those who have prayed for us through all our difficult times and struggles. Without your prayers, my wife Esther and I would not have been blessed with 3 healthy kids. My heartfelt thanks to God and all the prayers of TCC.
My wife Esther and I have great challenges with our 3 kids. Matthias, our eldest, was diagnosed as having high risk down syndrome during the pregnancy and Esther was so worried that she did not know how to break the news to me, fearing that I would ask her to go for an abortion. So, she prayed prior to breaking the news to me. When I heard the news, I felt a wave of responsibility and immediately told her that I reject the down syndrome word and that Matthias is going to be an Olympic swimmer as I am from a family of swimmers. Esther was taken aback but glad that the Lord answered her prayers regarding our son and he was born a healthy and strong child until today. I never knew that I was rebuking the down syndrome news and announcing God’s love and normality over the child, which is a FM sanctification process.
My second child, a daughter, Emma, was found to have an irregular heartbeat when Esther went for her 8th month check-up. Her gynae panicked initially as she could not find the heartbeat and quickly wheeled us to the triage area to do a more detailed scan only to confirm that Emma's heartbeat is irregular. We prayed intensely for Emma and when she was born, she was brought to the special care area to monitor. I remembered only till the wee morning hours did they wheel Emma back to us in the ward. They informed us that she had a hole in her heart which caused the irregular heartbeat. We extended our stay in the hospital for them to patiently monitor Emma carefully. It was only when she reached 1 year old that the doctors finally concluded that her heart is normal much to our relief. Emma today is running around happily free from a hole in her heart. Hazel, my youngest daughter, had exposure to x ray radiation when Esther went to the dentist. It all started when Esther had a very bad toothache that kept her up night and day due to the intense pain. She was prayerfully led to the dentist to check on her molars. It turns out she had to do root canal and it usually requires an x-ray of her set of teeth and gums for the dentist to properly conduct the root canal. She was uncertain then whether she was pregnant as it was still early so, she took the risk and went ahead with the x-ray. Later we found out that Esther was pregnant and was speculating if the radiation would cause deformities in Hazel. We prayed then about the x-ray and reject the fears. Esther had taken certain supplements that causes deformities also. This made her more anxious than ever and kept praying for God’s mercy to secure the safety and wellbeing of Hazel. With God’s mercies we welcome the birth of our younger daughter on 18th December without deformities but with strength and vitality. What joy we had!
Though it has been a challenging journey with us on our three kids we believe right from the start that God will not despise our prayer but will pull us through. His love and mercies over our family are unmatchable. We give all praise and glory to God for what He has done for us. He who called you is faithful! (1 Thessalonians 5:24). He did not give us a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7). It was faith in His promises and the shed blood of Jesus Christ that help us overcome all the dilemma we face with our children. When we submit to God our dilemma, the devil has to flee from our family. To God be the glory!
