“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” Ephesians 5:31-33 NIV
I was raised in difficult home where there were fights, quarrels, curses and disputes regularly with no peace and relatives living under one roof, where in laws became outlaws. So when I read this scripture, I fully understood the wisdom of God and when I got married, my father told me to move out independently and not follow the family history. I was blessed and still blessed today in obeying God’s Word. Today, Christ is the head of my family, we submit to one another unto the Lord, and though we are not perfect we chose to humble ourselves and learn to love better through Christ.
God’s original design is for a man to leave his home spiritually, emotionally and physically to be with His spouse as one flesh and family. It’s a profound mystery. Be submissive.
