Today's Inspiration: Therefore stand firm and not be moved by any circumstance. Always give yourselves to the work of the Lord because you know full well that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58.
Psalmist Asaph often wondered whether it was worth all the efforts serving God with so much afflictions every morning. He was a wonderful worship leader but deep inside of him he is disturbed. Psalm 73:14-15, 21. It is only when he learnt to live in peace filled presence of God that he discovered how to live amid the pain, trouble and injustice of the world. He was able to conclude that it is good to be near to God. Such refreshing is all we need. Like Apostle Paul says God is near. Philippians 4:4.
In His presence you will find sweet relief even in the midst of the fiercest battle from within. We can say what Asaph says. God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. V26.
Walking with Christ does not promise a care free life nor a life of comfort filled with worldly success. We have read stories of sudden tragedies of people who lost their loved ones, yet they don't blame God even if it means abandoning the work they have toiled for decades. Their secret was to find abiding joy in their life living closely to Jesus sharing every blow he received with the Lord from whom they received strength and comfort. Philippians 3:10. We can experience this comfort and strength too when we respond to Jesus' call.
It's good to reflect on our experience today of all the disappointment and setbacks we face in ministry. How can we submit them to Jesus and find abiding joy strength and comfort?
Prayer: In times of disappointment I find it all joy to share my heart out with You Lord Jesus for in You I can find comfort and strength. My life is in you Lord and I chose to praise you even in times of disappointment. It's You I can entrust my troubles and still find comfort, strength and joy. In Jesus' name, Amen.
