Today‘s Inspiration: “No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭27.‬ ‭The way we see others is the way we see ourselves and the way treat others is the way we treat ourselves. Apostle Paul was referring to spiritual disciplines and how a believer has to resist temptations, pride and criticisms. We need to become a discipled christian rather than a religious one. The former is selfless and the latter is self-centred.

It is only when we first judge ourselves, lest we lose the reward like an athlete who abides in the regulation of the race. Wisdom comes when we are quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Jesus was gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Psalm 145:8. Christ taught,” Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭1‬-‭3.‬ ‭Unloving spirit provokes judgements, criticisms and bitterness but love giving spirit (Christ) promotes empathy, edification and encouragement. We have to lead by Christlikeness as witnesses of the gospel.

Prayer: O Lord my God, forgive me if I have been judgmental or critical to others. For I am a sinner saved by grace and redeemed by the blood of Christ. If there are any plank in my eye, let it be removed that I may see and know the vision of Christ. If there are any resentment, anger or bitterness in me, heal me of them that I may be a vessel of love, faith, and hope to others. For it is no longer I who lives but Christ lives in me, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
