Today’s Inspiration: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21 NIV. Remember this truth, riches do not make you happier but only relationship with God does eternally. This particular verse challenges our spirituality between God and mammon and it is true we can’t serve two masters. Jesus taught,” Isn’t life more than what you wear, what you eat or even where you stay? Matthew 6:25. Yet one of the biggest stronghold is money and the root of all arguments, divorce and even division of a business, family, church or ministry. The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy with the spirit of mammon.
Going two chapters back, isn’t money one of satan’s most powerful strategy to tempt Jesus with the riches of the world. But Jesus defeated satan with the Word of God to worship God only. Matthew 4:10. It wasn’t just with Words but with action because Jesus tithed. Mark 12:17. Not many Christian realised this. This is a spiritual warfare between the flesh and the spirit. Abraham chose to have peace in the spirit but Lot chose to have riches in the flesh, and look at what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah. Genesis 13:8. God is not against riches but against the Worship of mammon. Why is it so easy to splurge thousand of dollars for the newest iPhone, best vacation, expensive dinners, house or car but couldn’t sow, tithe or give to the missions or build God’s Kingdom? Remember what we sow in the Kingdom on earth, it will be as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 Therefore we need to teach our children to be a good steward of God’s provision because all that we have belongs to Him. We brought nothing to the world and we cannot carry anything out of it. 1 Timothy 6:7. In fact, tithing breaks the fear of lack and stops the plunder of the devil because our first fruits proclaimed that God is our source and not the prince of the world. Glory to God!
Prayer: O Lord my God, let every seed and deed in my life gives you all the glory and honour. You are the treasure of my heart in both Words and actions of faith in my life. Forgive my sins if I have ever made mammon my God, and let my heart be faithful to the extension of your kingdom and let my hands be put deeply in your plow for the salvation of souls. Break all the fear of lack in my life in Jesus' Name, Amen.
