4 January 2021 Word by Honorary Pastor Rev Alicia Teo

Today's Inspiration: A brother who is offended, is harder to win than a strong city, and contentions are like the bars of a castle. Proverbs 18:19. How true this statement is!

The year 2021 is the year where we have to watch our attitude so that the roaring lion will not make use of our weakness to take advantage of us. 1 Peter 5:8. For this purpose the Son of God was sent to the world that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8.

Let our words be few for we shall eat the fruit of our lips. Words from our lips comes from our heart and in most cases when we are provoked, we tend to use delinquent and careless words that send us to face the storms of life. Let us enter this year 2021 to a safe harbour and anchor ourselves with an encouraging word for there is a saying that many rights cannot make up for a wrong statement. Once we suffer a stain it become part of our life. No one can easily forgive an offensive statement. Yet to enter eternal life, we have to forgive and this is a principle set by Jesus who died on the cross with our sins that we might be forgiven. Contentions place an iron fence that separates even a close acquaintance.

Let 2021 be ushered in with edification, exhortation and comfort that all will go well with us. Jesus' command is to love God and love one another not offend one another to hurt one another's soul. When the soul is hurt, it invites the devil to plunge in to exercise his rights over our soul and make it a stronghold. The goal of God's command is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5. God be praised.

Prayer: Lord guard our lips. Check our spirit this morning if there are any offensive ways in us and lead us to life everlasting that we might bring glory to Your name always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
