Today’s Inspiration: “Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.” Proverbs 22:15. “He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.” Proverbs 13:24. Discipline is spiritual because it is a blessing which many parents don’t realised. Giving the rod is not of abuse but of correction. This is revelation.
Those have been born in the previous generation, especially in traditional Asia we have physical disciplines by the rod without correction and when it comes to our time of parenting we may spare the rod because now times have changed. Remember God’s Word changes not. It is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8. The biblical key and revelation here is not the rod, but the correction. Many use the rod but no correction or quiet reasoning with closure, and some corrections without consequences.
A child needs to grow through biblical word, reflection, devotion, responsibility and prayers to mature. Those who dare to correct us, truly love and want the best for us. God’s Word says,” And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Hebrews 12:5-6.
Prayers: O Lord my God, thank you for your love in discipline and corrections. Humble my pride and rebuke my sins. You are truly my father who dares to love, discipline and accepts me deeply enough to correct me with your truth and compassion that I may not leave my soul to Sheol and destructions. Thank you for the joy of my salvation, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
