21 December 2022 Word by Snr Pastor, Pastor Darien Choo

Today’s Inspiration: “Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.” Psalms‬ ‭107‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. An evident sign of spiritual growth is the hunger and thirst for more of Christ in us, not just the knowledge or gifts. Christ came to this world to reconcile us with God so that we have daily conversations and communion with Him, not doing religious works. Spiritual formation is not about spiritual knowledge or activities, nor it is about gifts and blessings. It is bearing the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23. Everyone needs a personal encounter with God. It’s like a longing soul who is hungry and thirsty.

The very first sign of spiritual growth is the hunger for the Word of God. Matthew 5:6. I remember when I first received Christ, I was amazed by the life of Jesus in the gospel and His teachings. It was so different from what I have learnt from the world. God’s word spoke not to my mind but my heart and conscience that changed me from the inside out. The Holy Spirit only speaks the Word of God and His wisdom convicts my heart from sin and to repent from my worldly, fleshly and sinful ways. 1 John 2:16 Spiritual formation derives and emerges from one’s intimacy, relationship and discipleship with Christ. All Christ disciples were transformed by the Holy Spirit because of His Word to them. And when we choose to walk with Christ, it shall begin a journey of Spiritual formation, growth and maturity. Praise God!

Prayer: O Lord my God, only Christ can satisfy my soul and only your Word can transform me by your Holy Spirit. You see all my past, present and future. You see all my sins, wrongs and mistakes. You know what’s is going on in my heart and let me surrender and cast all my cares upon your grace. Teach me with your wisdom and grant me new understanding of your word that I am live on the everlasting living waters that never will run dry forever, in Jesus Name, Amen.
