Today's Inspiration: When the Spirit of the Lord departed from King Saul, the evil spirit started tormenting him. Such was the situation with King Saul when he and his army was defied by Goliath, leader of the Philistines. 1 Samuel 16:14. With his size and sovereignty, mentioned in 10:22-23 he should be the one to fight Goliath. But because God's spirit had left him, like Samson, he was fighting in his weakness.
When Goliath challenged the army of God he was challenging God to send a man to fight with him. With King Saul and his army frozen in terror, God answered him by sending a teenager in David to confront him who eventually defeated him. Our ways are indeed not God's ways. Isaiah 55:8.
The army saw Goliath as a towering monster but David saw his size as small compared to our magnificent God. Unknown to all, David had an unique invisible weapon, 'the name of the Lord Almighty' to conquer Goliath other than his familiar tools of catapult and five stones. 1 Samuel 17:45-47. David took five stones in case Goliath's brothers take vengeance against him. He was well equipped. With one stone, Goliath fell and David used Goliath's sword to kill Goliath. V50-51. The eternal truth is that to conquer our battles, we needed only the name of Christ, the name above all names for every knee to bow. Philippians 2:10-11. Our victory is from God through Christ. Thanks be to God. 1 Corinthians 15:57. We are more than conquerors with Christ at the helm. Romans 8:37. All of our resources are in Christ but if we fail to appropriate His resources, our strength is reduced to the same as King Saul. We have the Promise of God and His power living in us.
Though Satan may torment us, we cannot be defeated as we allow the Lord to work through us. David's success was due to his nearness to God and his wonderful praises of Him whilst being a shepherd. When praises go forth before the battle, victory is won. God be praised for His eternal truths that promised us victory over every adverse situation. So do not fear or be dismayed with your struggle. When you challenge the enemy with praises of God in your mouth, strongholds are easily pulled down and Satan is dethroned from his seated position of authority. Let your mind of victory be like David to be more powerful and stronger than your battle. God be praised.
Prayer: O Lord God, no matter how Satan join forces against us, we will not be defeated for they cannot be more powerful than You. With you, is the name of Jesus name above all names. When we go battle equipped with this Name and the Blood of Jesus covering over us, we will emerge a spiritual champion in Your army. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
