17 April 2021 Word by Honorary Pastor Rev Alicia Teo

Today's Inspiration: When God created man, it was the sole purpose of man to be drawn to God Himself in personal surrender and to bear His image. It was summed up in one statement of obedience. Why did God use the words “Do not eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil?” Genesis 2:16. God knows every heart and He knew the wickedness of man lies in covetousness and gluttony. He allowed Satan to test man's faithfulness.

Man choose their own wicked ways instead of standing upon His promises that when men places a trust in God, he shall be like a tree planted by the waters which spreads out its roots by the river and not fear when heat comes but its leaf will be green and will not be anxious in times of drought nor will cease from yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8. When flesh becomes our strength, our heart departs from the Lord. V5.

God's covenant secures that God will not turn from us nor will we depart from Him. He undertakes both for Himself and us. Jeremiah 32:40. If we trust men or flesh only, we will fail and miss the blessings of God. The greatest lack of our faith is that we need more of God.

God is still walking with us. Let us go to God with the purpose and surrender to know what He wants of us. Living a life of surrender is important in the New covenant. Regrettably this is often overlooked. The whole of our spiritual life, our total health, our growth and our strength depends only on one truth and that is to live a life of yieldedness and total surrender that is summed up by Him in the word Obedience. This is stressed even by prophets in the Bible. God be praised for making a way for us always.

Prayer: I surrender my whole life to you as I know it is the condition to receive all the blessings You have promised us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
