Today’s Inspiration: “Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me! Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, Lord, is in you. Deliver Israel, O God, from all their troubles!” Psalms 25:18-22.
The psalms speak of many afflictions and distresses in King David’s life and he wasn’t a perfect person because of his sins. Yet he was a man who is after God’s heart and always choose to follow the will of God. Acts 13:22. David sought God in all his decisions and situations. He led a life to please and fear God, not man which Saul did and lost his salvation. David praises God seven times a day for His commandments. Psalm 119:164. It was God’s commandments which established His kingdom. God’s commandments is His sanctification for our soul. Remember God blesses us not because of what we have done but what Christ did for us at the Cross of Calvary. Only the love of Christ can fulfil the commandments of God in delight as David did. Romans 13:10 David loved God wholeheartedly despite a dysfunctional home. He choose to honour God and his parents despite how he was treated. Honour and forgiveness brings healing, restoration and reconciliation to all homes and families. His love was deeply rooted in God’s heart. Love never fails. Praise God!
Prayer: O Lord my God, in my distress I choose to trust you and obey your commandments. They are lamps to my feet and light to my path with you. Lead me and take me, mould me and use me for your glory and testimony, for my heart longs for your grace and mercies daily. May you turn all my mourning to dancing, and my all afflictions to restoration, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
