Today‘s Inspiration: ”Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.“ James 3:11-12 NIV. Apostle James gave this metaphor with such clarity that our words reflects our the source of our soul. It could either come from the flesh or from the spirit. You can’t have both and that’s where discernment of the Spirit comes in. How can a believer still speak or behave like a pre-believer?
Many are born again in the spirit but they do not discern the leading of the Holy Spirit over their souls. They still do what they like to do and want to do in the flesh without knowing God’s calling and purpose in their lives. One can come to church for years and there is still no transformation into Christlikeness. Why? It a simple and profound answer. It’s the spirit of self. The spirit of self would not deny self, carry the cross and follow Christ as a disciples. Luke 9:23. Many are followers but few are disciples of Christ because discipleship brings correction, rebuke but also encouragement and mentoring. It requires humility, obedience and teachability to be transformed into Christlikeness.
Prayer: O Lord my God, may the words of my mouth be of fresh waters from your word that brings life of edification and not of salt water from the fleshly utterance that brings others down. Let me not be judgmental but to judge myself first before others. Make me a disciple of Christ and send me wise leaders or ministers that will guide me in my spiritual walk with Christ. Bring healing to wounded areas which triggers me with anguish words and transform my innermost being to be like Christ, in Jesus Name, Amen.
