Today's Inspiration: We all know that God is Love and that we have been taught by God to love one another. 1 Thessalonians 4:9. Apostle Paul in V10 emphasised that we should love more and more. In order to grow in love, we must saturate our minds with scriptures that describes love and shows it's importance to us. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. These verses remind us to empty all knowledge, abilities and zeal apart from love. V4-7 describes that love is in our attitudes and actions. Romans 13:8-10 tells us love is fulfilling the law of God in our lives.
In order to know where we are in love, we have to ask ourselves if we can still love those who have done harm to us or who have treated us unjustly. Can we forgive them from our heart?
Biblical love is not about emotions or feelings but attitudes and actions that seek the best interests of the other person we are interacting with. There is also the forgiving act of love which enables us to be patient with one another and to live at peace with one another. It enables us to deal gently with those who sinned against us or offend us. The ability to love beyond human thought is demonstrated by our readiness to forgive them even at great cost to ourselves.
Apostle Paul reminds the Corinthian church that just as they are to excel in everything, in faith, speech and in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in their love for him and his team, see that they should also excel in giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7.
We normally give according to what we value. Giving comes from the heart and apostle Paul says that we must give willingly and not grudgingly for as Jesus says where the treasure is there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21. Therefore our giving depends very much on how much we value God's sacrificial love for us and how much we value the purpose for which it had been sent.
Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 8:8 that he is not commanding them to give but to test the sincerity of their love by comparing their earnestness with that of others. If giving in love is from the willing heart, the gift is acceptable according to what one has and not according to what he does not have. V12.
The test of love is always measured by our giving in both substance and in need. He who called you is faithful. We cannot do anything against the truth but only for the truth. Our prayer for you is for your perfection in everything that you do that you may reap what you sow with a generous heart. 2 Corinthians 13:8-9. God does take into account in everything you do with a willing heart. God be praised!
