11 January 2023 Word by Senior Pastor, Pastor Darien Choo

Today’s Inspiration: “Devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.” 1 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬. What we give ourselves is vital for our progress, success and results. Timothy was a young believer and is self conscious about one’s identity, purpose and calling. Apostle Paul’s epistle was to strengthen Timothy’s foundation of his spirituality. Spiritual growth is not just coming to Church but what you give yourself to the word of God, make sacrifices and discipline yourselves.

Spiritual formation requires spiritual devotions. You can be church weekly but you do not give yourself to Christ. Remember none of Jesus’s disciples were clergy but common fishermen, tax collector, and people from marketplaces. They gave up all to devote themselves to follow Jesus, His teachings, His discipleship and His calling in their life. Matthew 19:27-28. Without conviction in the Spirit, there is no transformed heart and rebirth in the Spirit. Apostle Paul turned Timothy’s eyes from self consciousness to God’s consciousness, from expectations of man to intimacy with God. To be fruitful in 2023, decide to give more of ourselves to Christ, to follow Christ and be like Christ from the inside out.

Prayer: O Lord my God, lead me to bear much fruit in you, with you and through you. Open new opportunities for me to use your gifts in my life and walk in obedience to your Word and prophecy. Let I not be distracted but be focus on your love, calling and purpose in Jesus' Name, Amen.
