8 June 2021 Word by Honorary Pastor Rev Alicia Teo

Today's Inspiration: Our God is a loving God who cares for us. God fed the Israelites manna they do not know neither the ancestors to indicate that man shall not live by bread alone but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Even their garments and sandals did not wear out for 40 years. Deuteronomy 8:3-4.

Jesus used this scripture to shut the mouth of the devil when he was challenged by the devil taking advantage of his hunger. Matthew 4:4. If we don't resist the temptation of the devil, we will never achieve our goal. The hunger was God's way to test their hearts if they were to keep the commandments or not. Deuteronomy 8:2. Therefore keeping the commandments, walking His ways and to fear Him entitles us to possess the fruitful land. V6-9.

The question the Lord is posing to us is who is in charge of our life. If God is in charge the people are led but if we are in charge the people wander. As you wake up this morning are you going to whack the Rock or speak to the Rock? Speaking brings blessings whereas whacking the Rock deprives you of your goal.

When Gideon was not sure of winning the battle against the Midianites he went to the enemy's camp to check out their strategies. Contrary to his expectation, God reveals the dreams of Midianites that a huge bread fell upon the Midianites camp to mean that Gideon will win the battle. Judge 7:13-15. Bread is talking about the word of God that delivers them. The dream and interpretation came to pass and Gideon won the battle without much effort even though the army was reduced to 300. V19-25.

Indeed man shall not live by bread alone, neither their own ability nor perfection but by the word of God that delivers, heals and turn around situation. God be praised.

Prayer: Gracious is the Lord who is righteous and holy. Our God is merciful and preserves the simple. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
