Today's Inspiration: God will remember our sins no more because of the Blood of Christ that cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Hebrews 10:17.
The Hebrew word for remembering is Zakar. This means God simply deletes our sins from his mind, yet we as humanity cannot erase these memories easily as these become part of our label. If God were to be like us to remember offenses of others against us everytime an event triggers the past, we would never be free from captivity. When we forgive, we just put aside our grievances over and over again even if the memories return to our minds. The more we love someone the easier it is to forget their offenses. In this sense His infinite love entirely removes our sins from His infinite mind after our repentance. Entirely removal of sins means He will not punish us for our sins, but set aside those sins as directed by James in James 1:21. We know what it is like to be hurt by someone you love but decide to forget even though the memory does not go away. This is liberating as it is God's expectation of us.
God is a merciful God. Although He threatens to forget His people in Jeremiah 23:39, He promises to restore them in Jeremiah 24:6-7. None of the sins committed will be remembered if we return on repentance and changes for repentance means change. God be praised.
Prayer: Abba Father thank you for the insight in the word 'zakar' that allows us to forgive and yet to remember their sins but not to hold offenses against others. We set aside their sins as they repent for a better tomorrow just like Jesus did to a repentant soul. Amen in Jesus name.
