29 January 2022 Word by Snr Pastor, Ps Darien Choo

Today’s Inspiration: “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” Matt‬hew ‭7:18-20.‬ ‭God doesn’t just look at our performance but more on our character, for He desire obedience better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:22. Religion speaks of good works and charity but Christianity develops Godly relationships, intimacy and humility through Christ.

Jesus taught this parable with great wisdom that God is not just looking at what we do but who we really are within. He looks not just at our appearance but at our hearts. 1 Samuel 16:7. I once ministered to a business man and he did a lot of good works for the church and blessed many missionaries but his challenge was rage and anger which had caused bad relationships with his spouse and children. And the children were also filled with similar challenges with anger management issues. Galatians 6:7. We called this heir of bondages which many don’t realise spiritually that our emotions are spiritual and can cause generational iniquities. Repentance eventually brought humility and transformation of heart, in reconciliation with spouse and children. Praise for God for bearing new fruit of Spirit through repentance, forgiveness and change.

Prayer: O Lord my God, may I be a tree planted by your river of living waters, cleansing and removing all bondages from my past. Reveal the roots so that they could be uprooted and not pass on to my descendant’s descendants. Plant new seeds of your Word into my heart that I may grow deeper in love, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
