Today's Inspiration: Goodness is another relational quality that the Holy spirit works in us. Mark 10:18, Jesus says that there is no man who is good on this Earth. No one is good except God. V21 Jesus told the rich man to give whatever he has to the poor and he will have treasures in heaven, take up the cross and follow Him. V22 Sadly he walked away sorrowful for he has great possessions. Jesus remarked in v23 how difficult it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. V25 it is easier for a camel to go through the eyes of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom.
What was Jesus implying? The term 'good' means to have a generous giving attitude like Him that goes beyond request. The Holy Spirit cannot co-exist with those with ungenerous heart. When He truly fills our lives He flows through us to others with His grace.
Patience, kindness and goodness forms same category of fruit. Whilst patience empowers us to withhold anger, kindness compels us to reach out to others to make them feel valued and valuable. It's an antidote to bitterness that harbors. It is sensitivity to others' needs that established usefulness. These are fruits of personal integrity which can only be produced by the Holy spirit as you work your lives with Him. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord grant me a generous spirit created in righteousness and Holiness to be sensitive to other people's needs so that the fruit of patience, kindness and goodness can be developed in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
