Today's Inspiration: Genesis 15:6. The Bible recorded that Abraham believed God and was credited for his righteousness. Following this verse, God covenanted with Abraham to give him the land to take possession of it. Though he believed God, he also wondered how he was to gain possession in v8. This is the part of human nature who always lean on human understanding and test God's Divine attributes. Because he questioned God as to how he could possess this, God informed him that his descendants will be enslaved and mistreated for 400 years and will punish the nation that enslaved them. His descendants upon redemption, will receive great possession and in the fourth generation returned to where he is. He however will go to the grave in peace. V13-15. This is because the iniquity of the Amorites has not reached its full measure. V18 God showed him the extent of the land his descendants will possess.

Looking at above, whatever God said we must believe without wavering, and not questioned him. Because of his doubt as to how he could regain possession, his descendants had to go through oppression before possessing the promise. Like Jesus challenged Satan, he should not test God. We always suffered for our forefather's generational iniquity.

Abraham's other fault was not to trust God enough to stay in the land of famine. He went to Egypt instead which compelled him to lie to King Abimelech about his wife Sarah. This generational iniquity was also brought down to Jacob who deceived his father to gain first born inheritance and to Isaac who lied to Abimelech about his wife.

The enemy always pay great emphasis on our wavering faith and generational iniquity to hinder us from moving forward. The delayed inheritance was also due to the inferiority of Abraham's descendants caused by the oppression. His descendants were made worthless having been enslaved for 430 years. The enemy always inflict fear in us but God did not give us a spirit of fear but of Love. Power and a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7. Mind of oppression always taunt us from our calling.

God has set us apart to be holy. Exodus 33:16. We should never flee in times of famine. Shortcoming of our faith lead us to delayed answers or possession of His promise. Jesus also rebuked his disciples for lack of faith in delivering the boy from bondage.

Though many of us know Abraham's great faith, we failed to see the reason for his descendants' oppression. A lesson here to learn is never to test God's Divine attributes of covenantal love nor ask for a sign of his calling or promise. Hence behind every oppression is the preparation of God's Divine plan. Whatever you are struggling with, do not be alarmed. God has a greater plan than what you perceive. Overcome the trial and gain possession of His promise. God be praised.
