Today’s Inspiration: Discipline is in the heart of God’s love for us and family. The world and the flesh do not like discipline but the son delights in the truth and the truth sets us free. Success comes from a disciplined life, so is a child who is loved by the parents. Discipline is not abuse, control or oppression but in reason, integrity and truth in the conscience. It is true, “Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored.” Proverbs 13:18. Our Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. Proverbs 3:12. Hatred comes when there is lack of Discipline.
Discipline of the Lord is just not about the rod, but developing the heart of discipline, correction, teachability and humility. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Without the heart of discipline, there is no spiritual growth. All success in life requires Discipline and is a powerful Word in the Kingdom of God.
The flesh detests it but the Spirit delights in it for then we are made sons of the Most High God! We may remember good things that our parents have done for us but we will never forget their Discipline. Discipline awakens our Spirit and sharpens our conscience to take God’s Word seriously. Remember all parents must discipline our children not just in the flesh but with the Word of God, which is in the Spirit.
Prayer: O Lord My God, may your corrections, rebuke, and encouragements be the lamp to my feet and light to my path. Discipline my heart that I may have wisdom to live a life pleasing to you Lord, for me and my family, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
