16 Sept 2020 Word by Honorary Pastor Rev Alicia Teo

Today's Inspiration: Since you have been raised with Christ, set your heart on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above not on earthly things. Colossians 3:1-2. When you keep pursuing the things that are earthly, you have no peace.

Peace and rest are the ones that set you at ease and cause you to be confident of victory in your life. It is for your peace that Jesus took the chastisement so that by His stripes you are healed.

We are required to live in love day by day to be transformed from our earthly image to the image of our Creator by putting away old self and its practices. Besides clothing ourselves with humility, compassion, kindness, gentleness and patience, we should bear one another's burdens and forgive our offenders along the way as Christ forgives us. Bond of peace is better than strife. We should not bury offences in our hearts or they will turn to bitterness which is detrimental to our hearts.

Bitterness is poisonous to our body. Letting go of offences is the word that washes away bitterness in our hearts and restores each of our blood cells to health. Putting aside offences is not forgiveness. Forgiveness must be from the heart freeing the other party and yourself from bondage of offences. Forgiveness is surrendering the event of the offences to God to be halted at the cross absolving you from condemnation and guilt. It put you at peace and you feel at ease even when you face the offenders. This is a sign when you know you have totally forgiven the offender and that you are no longer affected, freeing you from bitterness. V12-13. Above all put on love which is the bond of peace and unity. V14. Because of severity of life's trials, today many are afflicted. The only antidote is to do everything whether in action or conversation in the name of Jesus Christ giving thanks to God always for through Christ we have triumph daily.

The Body of Christ is quick to judge based on human standards. Jesus cautioned us on this in John 8:15 when he tried to convince the Pharisees that he was sent by God to save the world. If we don't believe in Him and what He says, we have unbelief which caused us to die in our sins. Only he who belongs to God hears and act on what He says. If we don't believe, we lack understanding, and don't belong to God. V43 and 47. God be praised for those who believe when they hear the word of God and act in obedience.

Prayer: Lord in our afflictions, help us to cling onto You and believe that in Your time all be well with our soul. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
