13 April 2023 Word by Senior Pastor, Pastor Darien Choo

Today‘s Inspiration: “This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.” Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV.‬ Blessed are the poor for theirs is the Kingdom of God, is not referring to those who are physically or materially impoverished but are emotionally and spiritually in need of Jesus. Matthew 5:3. You can be rich on the outside but poor on the inside, like a young Korean celebrity who just took her live recently. I have seen wealthy Christian businessman whose children hate him and can’t even have a proper meal with him without quarrelling. God opposed the proud but shows His favour to the humble. James 4:6. Do good not when you become rich but rather you are rich when you do good.

Life is too short to be carrying pride, harbouring bitterness and festering unforgiveness. One of the greatest lesson the disciples learnt from Jesus and required great faith is repentance and forgiveness. Luke 17:5. It is not how much money that will make you happy is this life, rather it is how much love you have in Christ makes this life fulfilling with grace and mercy. Our late Rev. Alicia taught us as disciples of Christ, it is not how much more you can have that will make you rich, it is how much lesser you need that does so. Live life simple. In the Spirit, it carries such prudence and wisdom. When we seek God in prayer, He will give us Holy Spirit and His angels charged over us. Psalm 91:11. They will lead us from temptation and deliver us from evil according to the obedience of His Word and commandments. Praise God!

Prayer: O Lord my God, only you are my treasure where my heart lies. Godliness with contentment is great wealth. Forgive my sins and if there is any pride, offence or bitterness within me I shall repent before you in prayer. Give me a heart of flesh and new spirit which is humble, obedient and teachable. Guard and guide me with your Holy Spirit and give me strength and courage to always make peace, for the peace makers are the children of God, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
