Today's Inspiration: Do not judge by outward appearance which is not a reality. God sees the inward parts - the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7. God is more interested in the inward attitudes of our heart more than the physical beauty. It's the same with us. Adorning oneself makes one look good on the outside. But when you look at the inward parts of the heart, the attitudes are far from the standards of God. Likewise when we look at a person he looks healthy but inwardly it is full of pain and anguish.
To be spiritually healthy on the inside, we need recurrent spiritual nourishment from the word of God. This is available through a healthy enduring relationship with God. The world is in a mess today because we focus so much on the attractions of the world but failed to see the consequences of the neglect of our relationship with God. We are not to consume the world's spiritual nourishment which affects our attitudes that brings about spiritual cancer to us today. Outwardly we feel we have no need of anything but in reality spiritual cancer is slowly eroding our spiritual health that causes division.
The solution is to have a closer walk with God that will sharpen our hearing. We cannot serve two masters Matthew 6:24. Serving self and the world will weaken our spirit. Serving Mammon will cause us to hoard whereas serving God we look at eternal values. The one thing we cannot part with is our finances which are not permanent. What we give to God carries eternal values. Where the treasure is there your heart is. 19-21. It's this inward desire that determine our spiritual health. He who trust in riches will fall. Proverbs 11:28.
What is precious in the sight of God is the hidden person of our heart which aims to have the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit. 1 Peter 3:3. Do not be gripped by fear but be captivated by a humble spirit and a blessing spirit so that you might inherit a blessing. V8. So pursue an enduring relationship with God. God be praised.
Prayer: Lord grant me a gentle and hearing spirit, slow to speak and slow to anger but abounding in love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
